Transforming Our Community with peace and
prosperity!
It was July
2013 When I reach United States for first time in a Scholarship Program called
Community College Initiative Program (CCIP), sponsor by US Department of state.
This program has transform me on my career and this opportunity gave me a
different way of life, it doesn't only gave the experience of travelling to
many popular cities in the United States, it also makes me who I’m today. In
the beginning of the program, I was very embarrassing and shyful in nature and
that makes me hesitate to make new friends and also interact with strangers as
I was from a collectivist culture.

However, after meeting many new friends from different countries, I eventually get influence with their openly nature. Consequently, I was able to communicate more confidently like any other around me. However, my English language was very poor to communicate with people as English was not my first language. Therefore, I joined students club to mingle with American and to improve my English Skills by joining as Active Member of CAB (Campus Activities Board) at Campus. Community Service with Different Organization like Food Bank of South FL, TECHO, Everglades, Alligators Farm, National Day of Service, Service with Miami Dade Single Stop, Service Miami Film Festival etc.

We volunteered in different organizations in different field, and helping out who were in need. It was really inspired seeing that people were so keen to work for the community for free of cost while in the community where I came from was a total contrast, in my community it is very rare to find people who wish to volunteer unless they are paid. As a program requirement, we were mandated to volunteer for 100 hrs.

However, it makes me feel good working for the community, So I worked every time I got opportunity and I volunteered, (Earn Certificate for 156 hours during 2013- 2014 academic year).

After
I returned home from the United State, I want to keep on continuing
volunteering for the community in my home town. Therefore, I Join Global
Network for Equality- GNE. And committed myself to work towards my community,
and want to bring some changes in all the I can. GNE works for the innocuous
children of prison convicts who are the piteous victims of crime.
Our mission is to eradicate the social stigma associated with such children by providing social, emotional, and educational support to prevent them from entrapped in the cycle of crime. Further, we provide residential care and legal support to those children lacking parental care. Our activities also include enabling social acceptance of prisoners through counselling, family unions, and vocational training.
Manipur, is a hidden state in a neglected international border of India, and it is a deteriorated state which is rife with violent outbreaks almost every week. This points to a failure of governance to assess the root cause of this violence, and there is no single bone of contention.
Therefore,
GNE decided to take an initiative to bring changes to the miserable community
of Manipur state. GNE, as an independent organization, attempts to review one
aspect of this issue. It will focus on the children who have become victims of
this internal war. Among many of those who have been lured towards illegal
means of survival, the children of imprisoned has amounted to a large number.
These children are left behind to fend for themselves when their parent/parents
are imprisoned for various crimes. Some of them are as thus symbolically
orphaned at a very young age.
Without any
skill to earn a living, many of these children often tread the path to illegal
means. In a place like Manipur, where corrupted ideologues take advantage of
the youth to become their cannon fodder in various illegal activities, an intervention
of an organization like GNE is much needed.
